Risk Management: A Chat with Charles - MMS Updates
The Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways (MMS) is one of three (3) defences a municipality has in defending a claim. The MMS has been successful in defending many claims since its inception in 2002 and of course there have been trial decisions that did not end well for the defendant municipality. We have invited Charles to sit down with Brian Anderson of IPE to talk all things MMS. There will be a prepared list of questions for Charles, but what we want to do for most of the session is hear from you and respond to your questions regarding the MMS.
Host: Charles Painter is National Co-Chair of Dolden’s Municipal Defence Group and is a public entity defense specialist.
Moderator: Brian Anderson has experience building, maintaining, and managing municipal infrastructure. He has been involved with the MMS since the original Task Force was formed in 1997, he facilitated the 2013 amendment of the regulation, and has trained staff across the province on MMS for nearly 20 years. Brian is also a member of the 3rd five-year review Task Force.
Who should attend: Mayors, Councillors, Risk Managers, Municipal Legal staff, Managers, Supervisors, and Frontline staff who wish to learn more about the MMS.
