LAS Board Member Opportunity
Are you looking for professional growth opportunities? Consider volunteering with LAS, AMO’s business service entity to grow yourself or maybe one of your senior staff. LAS is currently seeking to fill one Director position on the LAS Board. Terms can be from two to three years. Volunteer time required includes up to four LAS Board meetings per year in Toronto, with virtual attendance always an option. Meetings are generally two hours. Advance preparation time for each meeting will also be required.
What is LAS? LAS was created in 1992 by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO). LAS is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization under the laws of Canada and is mandated to work with Ontario municipalities, as well as organizations from the broader public sector, to meet the needs of our communities by providing innovative and creative programs that offer efficiencies and build capacity.
Simply put, LAS helps communities work better.

Click here to find the board member job description along with board competencies matrix. The competency matrix is broken into two key competency areas. The first area is Board knowledge and skills, which are the skills required to function as a strategic, governing Board such as LAS. The second set of key competencies are focused on the Board Member’s individual knowledge and skills. These competencies are used by the LAS Board to identify potential board members with the objective being to have a balance of skills on the LAS Board to provide a broad perspective in making strategic decisions about LAS.
