Spot Market Billing

LAS recognizes that an electricity hedge may not be the correct fit for all municipal commodity strategies. Some municipalities would prefer to have their accounts settle 100% at spot market rates. Although this option provides more volatile pricing than a hedge approach, it can provide additional cost savings in some market conditions.

For municipal electricity accounts that consume less than 250,000kWh annually, the default billing option is time-of-use (TOU) electricity rates, however, with an energy retailer (such as LAS) you can remove accounts from TOU rates and have them bill at spot market rates.

By moving accounts to spot market billing, you would pay a variable price for energy based on the supply and demand of energy for the period (the weighted average spot market price), plus the Global Adjustment market charge and the LAS account billing fee.
